SAP Business One Update: February 2024

SAP has again outlined plans to make SAP Business One a key part of its cloud ERP strategy for the next decade and beyond within the solution’s official product roadmap.

Oliver Bahner, Senior Vice President and Head of SAP Midmarket & Ecosystem Success at SAP, emphasised the importance of SAP Business One as part of SAP’s wider strategy moving forward.

“SAP Business One is part of SAP’s cloud ERP strategy addressing customers in the small business and lower midmarket segment, while SAP S/4HANA Cloud tackles the midmarket and large enterprise customers,” he said.

He added that SAP is developing SAP Business One to make it ‘fit for the next decade’ adding that the company is ‘investing in essential product qualities’.

New enhancements

SAP has released 200 new enhancements within the latest release of SAP Business One, SP2311. These include 45 new features and enhancements for the web client, plus new functionality across several modules, including administration, financial, sales, inventory and production.

New features have also been released within the various localisations to help users comply with country-specific regulations. These include fraud prevention headers for MTD support for UK users and new tax regulations for one-use plastics.

There’s also additional support for external VAT calculations, bank statement (BSP) enhancements, plus fresh cargo tracking and tracing enhancements for any company shipping items across the EU.

Future Direction

SAP has again outlined its vision to strengthen SAP Business One as the “ERP solution for small business and lower midmarket” with fast and flexible deployment models, a solid business core, and a leading user experience.

Future investment will be focused around a real-time ERP with enhanced localisations; a solution that supports the fast adoption of new business models; plus flexible deployment models that accelerate cloud and mobile adoption.

As outlined by Senior Vice President, Head of SAP Midmarket Product Management and SAP Business One product lead Rainer Zinow in his annual review. SAP has outlined plans for Version 10 until 2027, when the major release of Version 11 is expected to be available.
