Traceability, operations control and better decision making at Depuradores D’Osona

Depuradores D’Osona is the company that manages the urban sanitation facilities of the municipalities of Osona (Barcelona). A total of 34 wastewater treatment plants, 30 pumping wells, and 90 km of high-level collectors.

This is a 100% public company with 55 employees, owned by the Consell Comarcal de Osona. Its annual turnover is around 8 million euros and all economic and financial control is carried out from the Consell Comarcal offices.

The company's goal is to return treated wastewater to the natural environment with the highest possible quality, providing maximum value to this work, with the lowest energy cost. The company has changed its statutes to expand its geographical scope and be able to provide service to
other types of water treatment.

Why SAP Business One?

One of the lines of the company's strategic plan (21-25) is its digitalization, focusing on communications, process digitalization, and cybersecurity.

To address it, the company tendered a public competition. Initially, the possibility of custom-made ERPs from small companies and other providers was considered, but they ultimately opted for the implementation of SAP Business One as it covered most of the needs described in the technical specifications of the competition, including greater control, traceability of operations, analytical accounting of cost and profit centers, usability, customization of the purchasing program, among others.

Value Proposition

One of the conditions for the implementation of this project was that it had to be up and running by January 2025 and, above all, that the chosen solution, in this case SAP Business One, would allow direct control of the organization's accounting, so as not to depend on central services.

In addition, by adding the web purchasing application to SAP Business One, Depuradores D’Osona has full control over accounting and finance, invoicing, purchasing, supplier management, and budget control.

Ultimately, with this project they have a much more personalized, new, and easy-to-use environment for users.
